Based in the coastal town of Montrose in Angus, our tour features magnificent architecture and the best of royal, rural and city life. Our visits include the Scottish home of the Royal Family, a whisky tasting at a modern distillery and a tour of a family-run working farm. We also head to Aberdeen to explore the Gordon Highlanders Museum and spend some time at leisure in the famous ‘Granite City’.

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 2 Gordon Highlanders Museum & Aberdeen
Today we travel to Aberdeen, beginning with a visit to the Gordon Highlanders Museum, which celebrates the story of the Gordon Highlanders regiment. We discover the 200-year history of the army regiment through a collection of historical artefacts, memorabilia, weapons, regimental silverware and a replica WWI trench. We spend the rest of the day at leisure for ‘My Time’ exploring the ‘Granite City’ of Aberdeen. See the impressive turreted Town House in Union Street, the castellated Citadel at The Castlegate and the striking gothic Marischal College, the world’s second largest granite structure, which are all fine examples of the city’s most famous export. Other attractions include Provost Skene’s House, the Aberdeen Maritime Museum and the famous shopping ‘Granite Mile’.
Day 3 Newton Farm & Arbikie Distillery
Today we explore Angus’ fertile farmlands, we begin with a morning visit to Newton Farm, a family-run working farm in rural Angus where we meet farmer Lou. We enjoy a guided tour, discover what daily life is like on a Scottish farm and have the opportunity to pet & feed the animals. We round off our visit with some home baked treats & tea/coffee. This is a perfect place to organise a soup & sandwich lunch before setting off for the afternoon. Ask your Account Manager for details.
In the afternoon we visit Arbikie Highland Estate with the stunning backdrop of Lunan Bay., home to the Arbikie Distillery where we experience a Whisky Tour & Tasting. During our tour we learn all about their sustainable, field-to-bottle approach to growing and distilling and get to taste the fruits of their labour!
Day 4 Royal Balmoral
We spend today at stunning Balmoral, the Scottish home of the Royal Family. We discover the castle’s fascinating history, famous residents and visitors, exploring the largest room in the castle, the Ballroom, as well as the exhibitions, grounds and gardens. Covering three acres, the beautiful formal gardens feature a large kitchen garden, a range of Victorian glasshouses full of flowering pot plants and a water garden.
Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
Park Hotel, Montrose

The characterful Park Hotel is located in the centre of Montrose, a town on the east coast of Scotland about an hour’s drive from both Dundee and Aberdeen. The hotel is decorated traditionally with tartan carpets and wood panelling throughout. The 52 bedrooms are all reasonably spacious but differ in size and style, with all offering traditional furnishings and TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Please note, there is no lift but there are 16 ground floor rooms. The restaurant is light and airy thanks to its large windows overlooking the garden and the spacious traditional public bar is a great place to unwind.
