PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Edinburgh Castle & Scotch Whisky Experience
This morning, we experience a highlight of the tour, a visit to Edinburgh Castle, an historic fortress standing on a rocky outcrop above the old town with views across the city. We head inside to see the magnificent St Margaret’s Chapel and spectacular Scottish Crown Jewels. No visit to Edinburgh would be complete without a warming whisky tasting at the Scotch Whisky Experience on the city’s Royal Mile. We enjoy a guided tour with tasting in one of the world’s largest collections of Scotch whisky. Afterwards, we enjoy free time exploring Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

Day 3 Abbotsford & Great Tapestry of Scotland
This morning, we visit Abbotsford House & Gardens, the 19th century Scottish baronial home of famous Scottish novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. Standing on the banks of the River Tweed, the well preserved and impressive house reflects his design, personal tastes and an incredible collection of artefacts and treasured possessions. Afterwards, we visit a breathtaking testament to Scottish heritage and skill, the Great Tapestry of Scotland, created by volunteer stitchers from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands, all telling the extraordinary story of the country’s history, people and landscapes.

Day 4 New Lanark World Heritage Site

Today we enjoy a full day visit the New Lanark World Heritage Site, a unique 18th century Mill Village alongside the River Clyde. Founded in 1785, with a focus on the welfare, education and philanthropy of the mill workers, it became the model for industrial communities across the world. The mill still spins traditionally produced organic wool and produces its own hydroelectricity, and even its own delicious traditional ice cream.
